EPL: FA confirms ruling regarding Arteta’s remarks following Newcastle’s 1-0 loss

The Football Association has dropped the case against Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for comments he made during their 1-0 loss to Newcastle United last month.

After Anthony Gordon’s goal in the 64th minute was upheld, Arteta became enraged.

Three different VAR checks were made for offside in the build-up, a foul, and the possibility that the ball might go out of play.

It’s abhorrent. It is awkward. Everyone in that [dressing] room feels the same way as I do, Arteta remarked at the time.

Following that, the FA accused Arteta of violating Rule E3.1

But after an inquiry that included Arteta appearing in person for a hearing, an impartial panel declared that to be “not proven.”

Rather than taking aim at a specific official, Arteta’s case was effectively made based on a broader dissatisfaction with the VAR process, as stated in the written reasons for the judgment.
