The Cincinnati Bengals have re-signed quarterback Jake Browning to a two-year contract extension through the 2025 season. [3]

Browning, who was an exclusive rights free agent, has been issued a tender by the Bengals that will keep him under contract as the backup to star quarterback Joe Burrow. [3]

After Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury in 2023, Browning stepped in and had a strong performance, completing 70.4% of his passes for 12 touchdowns and 7 interceptions while going 4-3 as the starter. [1][2][3]

The Bengals were eager to retain Browning’s services, as he proved to be a capable backup who can step in and keep the team competitive when called upon. The two-year extension will likely keep Browning in Cincinnati through the 2025 season, at which point he will become an unrestricted free agent. [3]

This move solidifies the Bengals’ quarterback depth chart, with Burrow as the clear starter and Browning as the reliable backup. It also provides Browning with some stability and the opportunity to continue developing in Cincinnati’s offense. [3]
