LOUISVILLE, KY: Jayda Curry, a transfer guard, has joined the University of Louisville women’s basketball team, according to a statement made by head coach Jeff Walz on Tuesday. Curry will be able to play for two seasons, beginning with the 2023–2024 campaign.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jayda Curry to the Cardinal Family,” Walz stated. As a two-year starter and all-conference player at Cal, Jayda brings a plethora of expertise to the table. We will rely on her leadership and experience to provide us with scoring and ball distribution from the back court. She can score at all three levels and perform at both ends of the floor. She will undoubtedly improve the output of her colleagues that surround her. The Cardinal supporters will adore Jayda’s contagious charm and her ardent love of the game.”

Curry spent two seasons as a player at Cal, where she had an instant influence on Berkeley residents. She received media recognition as All-Conference and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year during her rookie season at Cal. The coaches in the league selected her to the All-Freshman team and awarded her honorable mention All-Conference. She was selected to the media’s All-Pac-12 First Team and the coaches’ honorable mention All-Pac-12 team for the second consecutive season while playing for the Golden Bears.

She was second on the team with 106 assists (3.5 per game) in her sophomore season, and she led the Golden Bears in scoring (15.5 per game) and minutes played (32.9 per game). Her 15.5 points per game was the highest of all Pac-12 sophomores and rated sixth in the conference. She started all 30 games. In just 29 games, she surpassed the 500-point plateau for her career, becoming the second-fastest player in Cal program history to do so. Her 59 three-pointers matched for the team lead and placed seventh in the Pac-12.
