Confederation Cup CAF: Rivers United surpasses Angolan rival
On Sunday night in Uyo, Rivers United defeated Academica do Lobito of Angola 3-0, displaying their ruthlessness at its peak.
In the third minute, Samuel Antwi, a Ghanaian immigrant, headed home Paul Odeh’s cross to give the Nigerians the perfect start.
Two minutes after the interval, Odeh was on target.
Shedrack Asiegbu’s goal on the hour mark sealed the victory for Stanley Eguma’s team, leaving the visitors no chance.
Despite being ahead on goal differential, River United leads Group C standings with three points, one point more than Tunisian team Club Africain, who on Sunday night defeated Ghana’s Dreams FC 2-0.
Next Sunday, United will play Dreams FC away from home at Cape Coast Stadium.
