Sad NFL News Star QB sidelined for the season with a devastating ACL tear

The NCAA is investigating the Tennessee Volunteers for recruiting violations centered around quarterback Nico Iamaleava.

The Tennessee Volunteer football team is still not a year removed from the NCAA’s most recent sanctions for recruiting breaches, which totaled over 200.

SI.com’s Pat Forde writes that the NCAA has initiated a fresh inquiry into the Volunteers’ name, image, and likeness, perhaps leading to additional fines.

According to Forde’s findings, the NCAA denied a request for comment on the case, and the alleged violations, aside from the relation to NIL, remain exceedingly obscure. Tennessee’s most notable NIL agreement to date is their current starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava, a former five-star quarterback who supposedly inked a deal that could pay him

“The investigation is focused in part on the use of a private jet by a so-called donor collective to fly a high-profile recruit — now the school’s starting quarterback — to campus while the university was wooing him.Having the booster group pay for the trip by the quarterback, Nico Iamaleava, would be a violation of N.C.A.A. rules. The inquiry comes after the N.C.A.A. penalized Tennessee for different recruiting violations and signals the N.C.A.A.’s growing concern about the scale and influence of the money being injected into college sports by donor collectives.”
