Legal troubles loom for high-Pitcher player amidst off-field controversy

WFAN’s Brandon Tierney is at his wits’ end with the current state of the New York Mets.

Tierney ripped the team on Thursday’s Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata show after the Mets’ abysmal, 10-5 loss to the Phillies on Wednesday. The Mets (19-23) are now four games below .500.

“The Mets are a disaster. The New York Mets are absolutely unwatchable and atrocious,” Tierney said via Audacy. “They are beyond pathetic at this point. The Mets right now are in a place that is very dangerous for a New York sports team. They’re pathetic, and they’re boring… I can’t let them hide anymore.”

Tierney’s solution? Cleaning house — with the exception of injured catcher Francisco Alvarez.

“There is one player on the Mets that I would build around… and the poor kid is hurt,” he said.

“The Mets should be on the phone every waking moment… ‘You want Lindor? How much of his contract do I have to eat? You want McNeil? Take him. He stinks. You want Edwin Diaz? I respect him… not the same guy. Go. You want Nimmo? Take him.’”
