I am writing to formally announce my resignation from my position at Dallas, effective two weeks from today, April 25, 2024.

Dak Prescott has elevated his playing level in the last three seasons and its not coincidental that those were the first three of his 4-year contract extension.

He has put posted MVP-type numbers but every time he and the Cowboys reach the playoffs, things dont go well.

However, owner Jerry Jones wants Dak with the team for more years to come and even though and extension is not close, he remains optimistic that his quarterback will return for a 9th season and beyond. “We want Dak Prescott. That’s that,” he said to NFL Network Jane Slater.

With that said, questions about why a new deal hasnt been announced have surfaced and Jones says he will take as much time as he needs to make the correct decision and a fair offer.

“We’d like to see more leaves fall. We’d like to see more action. It’s called option quarterback. I’ve spent my life (playing) option quarterback. I want to see some more cards played,” said the Cowboys owner.

Dak Prescott has averaged a 68.1 completion percentage in the first three seasons of his current deal. Hes passed for more than 4,000 passing yards in two of his previous three years only because in 2022 he played in 12 games passing for 2,860 yards and 23 touchdowns.

In 2023 he posted 37 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions with a 104.2 passer rating.

Many believe he will get a contract extension but dont be surprised if it happens once the 2024 season ends.

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will also enter the final year of his current contract, but he is also worthy of a new deal. He is coming off his best year as a pro after catching 135 balls for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.
