AFTER:the Game played Texas Rangers and Houston Astros Adolis García reuest to leave the team

“Adolis García, the rising star of the MLB, finds himself embroiled in controversy yet again as allegations of performance-enhancing drug use surface. The Cuban outfielder, who captured the hearts of fans with his electrifying debut season, now faces scrutiny over his remarkable performance on the field. While García has vehemently denied any involvement in doping, questions linger as his sudden surge in power and agility raises eyebrows among baseball analysts and rivals alike. As investigations loom, García’s legacy hangs in the balance, leaving fans torn between admiration and skepticism.”

Outfielder Adolis García was at the forefront of a moment during last year’s ALCS that personified the tension between the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers. On Monday, García didn’t hold back his emotions in an incident involving a former Astros pitcher.

Phil Maton, who joined the Tampa Bay Rays after departing Houston in the offseason, took the mound against the Rangers for his third relief appearance of 2024. The game was largely out of reach already—Texas held a 7-3 lead in the ninth inning—but an otherwise unmemorable outing took an eventful turn when García came to the plate.

Maton gave up a double to the leadoff hitter, and after forcing a line out by the next batter, he issued a walk to Corey Seager then hit Evan Carter to load the bases. Clearly, control issues were in play for the reliever, who pitched for the Astros from 2021-2023, but García still took exception when Maton plunked him to bring home the Rangers’ eighth run of the night.

Maton left a fast ball up and in, hitting García in the left arm. The Texas star proceeded to walk around the area near the batter’s box with his fist clenched for roughly 15 seconds, before being escorted down the first-base line, continuing to make animated remarks—presumably toward the Tampa pitcher—on his way to the bag. Maton went on to walk in another run in a 9-3 Rangers victory.
