That’s been regarded as a smart financial move by many, with those tabbing it as good thinking for late-round draft picks or free agents whose NFL future is anything but guaranteed.

Here’s a look into everything to know about Tommy DeVito’s contract, including his current salary.

New York signed DeVito as an undrafted free agent in April following the 2024 NFL Draft. Upon joining the Giants, he received a $10,000 signing bonus and a $10,000 base salary guarantee.

The former Fighting Illini signal-caller is in the first year of a three-year contract worth up to $2.705 million. But the remainder of his deal is not guaranteed, meaning he would lose any unpaid dollars if he were to be cut.

DeVito carries a cap hit of $416,667 this season. That number moves to $915,000 in 2024, his base salary for the year.

DeVito will earn a prorated salary of roughly $44,000 per week for every game he is on the team’s active roster for the rest of the season.

The NFL states that the minimum salary for a rookie is $750,000 for a full 17-game season. The Giants had nine games remaining on the schedule when DeVito was promoted to the active roster, meaning he could earn far more the initially anticipated in his rookie season.
