Seahawks’ Geno Smith Won’t Have Contract Restructured for 2024 Season

The Seattle Seahawks have informed quarterback Geno Smith that he will be on the roster in 2024 under his current contract, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported. Schultz said that Seattle’s front office has given its commitment to Smith.

Smith will be entering the second year of a three-year $75 million contract in 2024 and will be a free agent in 2026.

This season, Smith notched 3,624 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions in his second full season as the Seahawks’ starter. In 2022, he led Seattle to a wild-card appearance behind 4,282 passing yards and 30 touchdowns.

Heading into the offseason, there were questions of whether Seattle would stick with the veteran Smith or move in a different direction by drafting a quarterback with the 16th pick. While there is still a chance the Seahawks could take a quarterback in the draft—they met with Heisman winner Jayden Daniels at the Scouting Combine—it seems Smith will be the starter again next year.
