Biertempfel said the team paused its workout, as the team and owner Bob Nutting gathered along the infield as the scene unfolded. The team then applauded as the patient was taken off in the ambulance.
According to Biertempfel, the patient was a local member of the Chamber of Commerce the team invited to take fly balls in.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Jason Mackey reports that the incident is being labeled a “cardiac event” and that the man is now alert and responsible.
