To put it mildly, the Philadelphia Eagles’ season came to an awful conclusion. Although the cause of their 1-4 record in the final weeks of the NFL 2024 season is yet unknown, a rumor from the media suggests that a key squad member unexpectedly passed away.

Head coach Nick Sirianni’sEagles seemed nearly invincible for most of the season. With an almost perfect record of 10-2, it didn’t look like anyone could take the NFC East Division title away from them, and they seemed to be on a safe path to their second consecutive Super Bowl.

But everything collapsed in Week 13, when they were defeated 42–19 at home by the San Francisco 49ers. The altercation between Niners linebacker Dre Greenlaw and Philadelphia security head Dom DiSandro was the most noteworthy event of the game.

DiSandro, also known as “Big Dom,” was suspended for the remainder of the season for the altercation, and according to press accounts, it left a significant divide within the team.

For much of the season, head coach Nick Sirianni’s Eagles appeared to be almost unbeatable. They had a virtually flawless record of 10-2, and it seemed impossible for anyone to unseat them as the NFC East Division champions and a surefire route to their second straight Super Bowl.

Beyond DiSandro’s possible influence on Sirianni, there was another set of circumstances that could have contributed to the Philadelphia debacle.

Among them, the problems of defensive coordinator Sean Desai, who was moved to a position of less responsibility, and assistant Matt Patricia was in charge of calling defensive plays starting in Week 14.
