LOUISVILLE, KY: The Louisville men’s basketball program’s alumni squad, “The Ville,” and the Basketball Tournament are running it back.
TBT revealed on Tuesday that one of the eight regional host locations for the event’s 2024 edition will once more be Louisville and Freedom Hall.
The Louisville Regional is scheduled for July 19–24. The eight-team regional champion will compete in the TBT quarterfinals against the winner of the already announced Lexington Regional.
“We are ecstatic to return to Louisville this summer.” said CEO and creator of TBT Jon Mugar in a statement. “There was a boisterous energy at Freedom Hall that brought back memories of the Boston Garden in the 1980s.” In addition, The Ville’s Round 3 match in Louisville received a record-breaking 12.4 share. All bets are on Louisville!”
TBT made their debut in the city of Louisville last summer, with Freedom Hall serving as a regional and quarterfinal host in the 2023 iteration of the event, and The Ville being the first Louisville alumni team to ever compete in the event. The team – whose 2023 roster featured former Louisville greats such as Russ Smith and Peyton Siva – made it all the way to the regional championship.
