Two triumphs. In an effort to see Van Lith earn a journey home, friends and family in her tiny hamlet made that request.
“Everyone told me that all I had to do was go there and make it to the Sweet 16.” Van Lith stated on Thursday, “And we have.” “The best thing that could have happened was that we were in the right area and won our first two games. I’ll be able to play in front of a lot of people who haven’t seen me play in a long time.”
Mostly without any West Coast influence, Van Lith is the centerpiece of a Seattle regional site. The Cardinals, ranked fifth, will take on Ole Miss, ranked eighth.
Van Lith is a familiar name around here. She is the 130-mile away small-town phenom who developed into one of the nation’s top prep players, the all-time state high school scoring leader, and currently a Cardinals star.
She could have led Louisville to a second straight Final Four with two more victories.
Van Lith, who is averaging 19.5 points per game, stated, “I think offensively we’re better this year than we were last year and I think we have been all year.” It has therefore been a lot of pleasure to watch the defensive end come full circle.
Van Lith is from Cashmere, a 3,200-person hamlet in the foothills about two and a half hours east of Seattle.

Although she has always studied it, I believe that right now she is applying what she is learning. since she did well in high school. She really scored the basket on her own initiative, according to Louisville coach Jeff Walz. “And now you reach this point.”
