SAD NEWS: Fomar Darts star player just passed away due to suicide….

After Toon Greebe, a darts star, passed away at the age of 35, tributes began to come in.

Due to long-term health issues, specifically diabetes, the Dutchman, who twice participated in the PDC’s World Darts Championship and once defeated fellow national Michael van Gerwen, had to end his professional career in 2014.

He had his right foot amputated in late 2017 as a result of a severe infection and lost the lower part of his left leg last year, while also suffering with kidney issues. His passing was announced on Monday (October 16).

After hearing the unfortunate news, the PDC expressed their “saddened” feelings and sympathies to Greebe’s friends and family. Greebe won the Polish Open in 2019, which was confirmed by the World Darts Federation.

“The WDF are saddened to learn of the passing of the 2019 Polish Open champion Toon Greebe,” they wrote. “On behalf of everyone at the WDF, we extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to Toon’s friends and family at this difficult time.”

Meanwhile, fellow darts player Ryan Palmer added: “Very sad news! Played (against) Toon a couple of times, RIP Toon.”

The Dutch Darts Association continued the tributes, with their statement reading: “We have received the sad news that former Dutch team player Toon Greebe passed away on Monday morning at the age of 35. We wish his family and friends a lot of strength in this difficult time.”
