New York Knicks announce Ryan Arcidiacono departure definitely we lost….
The New York Knicks have added another Villanova Wildcat to their roster ahead of the 2023-24 season: New York announced on Friday that it signed guard Ryan Arcidiacono to a contract and waived Dmytro Skapintsev in a corresponding move.
The details of the deal were undisclosed. Regardless, the Knicks now add a key depth piece to a playoff-level roster. It certainly helps that he’s also all too familiar with some of the best players currently on the team.
Arcidiacono played at Villanova alongside current Knicks Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson, and Donte DiVincenzo. The group was together during the 2016 National Championship run, which saw Arcidiacono dish off the assist to Kris Jenkins as he launched his famous buzzer-beater to defeat North Carolina.
Arcidiacono signed multiple different 10-day contracts with the Knicks midway through the 2021-22 season until the team finally signed him for the rest of the campaign in Feb. 2022. He re-signed with the Knicks last September but was part of the deadline deal with Portland that brought Hart, his fellow former Wildcat, over. Playing for the eliminated Trail Blazers, Arcidiacono appeared in nine games, making four starts. In 21 appearances as a Knick over two seasons, he’s averaged 0.9 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.3 assists.
